    Hi,

if you perform a factory reset you will be asked if you want to delete all the games too or a soft factory reset. If you want to sell it you have to do the full one !

If you don't want the data on your HDD to be deleted you should just disconnect it from the console before you start the full factory reset.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

Yes, Martin. It will also delete the data on the hard drive. You may need to unplug the external hard drive before resetting the console, Martin.

I bought a bigger hard drive and a data transfer cable from amazon and now it has wiped my existing hard drive but now my xbox doesnt recognise either hard drive ...is there a way to factory reset the machine without the hard drive being recognised ?

Does Xbox One "Factory Reset Default" feature wipe hard drive?

Anyone else have information / documentation from Microsoft that they encrypt data on the hard drive or that the Xbox One "Factory Reset Default" does wipe data to some spec??

Does Xbox One "Factory Reset Default" feature wipe hard drive?

    Hardly extreme.

Its easy to recover deleted files from any hard drive if they are just deleted. It drive is just reformatted it is also easy to recover data although it is not always guaranteed to be complete.

I have not seen any documentation from Microsoft that they encrypt data on the hard drive or that the Xbox One "Factory Reset Default" does wipe data to some spec.
