Wifi Adapter

Im pretty sure that you cant use the old wifi adaptors with the xbox 360 slim because the internal wifi connection utilizes wifi-N, the newer standard of wireless connections and may not properly interface with the xbox 360 slim.

As for getting a better signal.... i dont think it really makes a difference, most issues regarding that usually are environmental issues surrounding the 360 and nearby access point or the router. For instance having thick walls, microwaves, other computers
running wireless, etc.

You won't get a better signal with an old adapter on the Xbox 360 S - the internal wifi adapter is good.

Just to add from what Cyphixer mentioned, you can always send your console in for repair. Warranty status of your console can be checked here:

https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/register-your-product

If your console is in warranty, the repair will be free.

I also wouldn’t advise trying to fix the problem yourself, just to avoid further damage and you may void the warranty by doing so.
