    Wife's Xbox Series X has broken after only 45 days and I cannot get any support - NEED HELP


    I bought my wife an Xbox Series X on 30th September and last night she was playing Call Of Duty and got booted from the game. She tried to log on and got a disc read error, even though we bought the digital copy. After rebooting and still having the same issue I looked online and one of the potential solutions was to do a Hard Reset. So she followed the procedure (hold down the power for 20 seconds, unplug the power lead for 3 minutes) but when she tried to reboot it all that happens is the Xbox light comes on with the usual "ding", stays on for about 7 seconds and then turns the Xbox off. We have tried every solution we could read about (different power socket, different power cord, another hard reset, blowing compressed air in to the USB ports and leaving it logged off for 30 minutes) but whatever we did the result was the same. 7 seconds of power and that's it. It doesn't even get to any reboot screen so the logical conclusion is it's broken.

    I contacted Currys PC World (where I bought it) who said that because it's out of its 30 day warranty period there's nothing they can do and gave me the following number to ring Xbox. 0800 5871102. The only problem with that is all that happens on that number is it tells you to go online to "save time".

    So this morning I have:

    1) Tried the callback service 5 times (on different numbers) and had no call back. It now says my wife's account has run out of call backs so I tried using my login for the same option and all it says now is that there is "Something went wrong at our end. We’re working on it." and to Try Again which i have done multiple times without success.


    2) Spoke to one of the Community experts who told me to put a repair ticket in online (after going through all the steps we'd already tried), but...
    3) Tried logging a repair three time, twice it got to the payment screen (for £0) which I clicked and nothing happened, and once it got locked on the payment screen and wouldn't progress. My wife has had no email to say any of the repair requests have been logged and the status of her Xbox has not changed to show a repair having been logged either (the option to log a repair is still there too)
    4) Tried ringing several numbers supposedly for Xbox/Microsoft all of which do the same as the one above and direct me to the Web SIte

    5) Sent an email to an old support email address I had only for it to bounce back saying it isn't monitored
    6) Tweeted @XboxSupport but have had no reply back

    There appears to be no way of actually making contact with anyone who actually works at Microsoft or Xbox etc. so this is my last hope. I am so angry at this point that if I don't get some sort of resolution to the problem I will be contacting Trading Standards to find out what my rights are and how I can get the Xbox repaired, replaced or my money back as at the moment all I have is a very expensive door stop and one very upset and angry wife who was looking forward to the new COD Battle Pass coming out.

    Please don't reply with suggestions on how to get the Xbox to work as I'm pretty sure it's broken, I Just want someone from Xbox to actually speak to and help me get my wife's Xbox repaired or replaced.

    Thanks, I had no idea they only send out refurbished ones, how is that allowed when the console is only 45 days old and clearly faulty?

    Oh, ok.

    I spoke to Citizen's Advice Bureau and they advised me that I should talk to Currys again because under my rights they have to offer to repair or replace the item, regardless of the 30 day "warranty period" because my contract was with them, not Microsoft.

    They send back refurbished ones because it's quicker than you waiting on them to fix the console.

    Oh, ok.
