Wi-fi slow performance even when using 5Ghz

    Wi-fi slow performance even when using 5Ghz


    I have a 1Gigabit internet service at home, whenever I use a wired connection to the xbox series x, I get mostly 800-900 speeds which is fine.

    However, when using 5GHz Wifi connection, and downloading a game or update, the max speed I can get is like 230mbps.

    What's up with that?

    Hey Jacob,

    Are they both connected via Wi-Fi? If so, I recommend you visit our Slow Performance page and go through the steps with the slower
    performing console. Let us know how it goes.

    Xbox One S controller issue

    Console is current and in the same room as router wi-fi (5ghz band) No interference that I can tell.

    Remote play limitations

    The remote play option on the new iOS Xbox app will work wherever you have a signal (Wi-Fi or 5G) and you don't need to be on the same network as your Xbox.

    If you are connecting to Wi-Fi, it's recommended to use the 5Ghz band. Especially if you are connecting a controller to your device using Bluetooth.

    Xbox Series X doesn't want to connect to 5GHz connection.

    So your saying that you can connect to the 5GHz Wi-Fi as of the moment, correct?

    To clarify as well, is the 2.4GHz and 5Hz Wi-Fi is just from 1 Internet connection?

    You could always open the browser on each console and run a generic speedtest. Pick the nearest server provided and compare.
