Why would I have two subscriptions to Microsoft Game Pass Ultimate on the same device?

Game Pass Ultimate can be shared at the sime time on 2 devices (2 Xbox, 2 PCs, one of each). So for 3 devices playing at the same time, you'd need a second Game Pass Ultimate Account.

Game Pass Ultimate also includes Xbox Live Gold. So if you would have 2 Game Pass Ultimate to play on 3 devices (or even 4) at the same time, you would need only one Xbox Live Gold subscription on the account that will play on the device that will not be connected to Game Pass Ultimate.

You can use Game Pass on two devices; there's no need to purchase a second Game Pass. The only thing to keep in mind is that you can't play the same title simultaneously on both devices.

I haven't had ultimate but I had normal game pass for pc before

That would be why you can't redeem it then...from the FAQs in the link I posted before:

"If you were previously subscribed or currently subscribed to Xbox Game Pass for PC, or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you will not be able to redeem the two month trial for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate!"

If you have Minecraft purchased with your Microsoft account and you also have Game Pass Ultimate on the same account, unfortunately, it is not possible to have two separate licenses for Minecraft Java Edition. In this case, the only option would be to wait until your current Game Pass Ultimate subscription ends and then purchase the subscription on a different Microsoft account. This will result in having two separate accounts, each with its respective Minecraft Java license.

You cannot have those two subscriptions active at the same time. You can only have Ultimate active, or the two Game Pass subscriptions active separately, but not Ultimate and one of the other Game Pass subscriptions active at the same time as Ultimate comes
with both plus Xbox Live Gold.

However, if you have never subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate before and this is your first time, there would be a way where you could buy the Xbox Game Pass for PC first, then subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the time that you purchased
would convert to Ultimate plus the 2 months that you would be paying for which would equal to a total of 5 months. This would also include any time of Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass for Console you currently have, so you could potentially have more months
of Ultimate if you still have time on either Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass. This only applies if this would be your first time joining Ultimate. One problem that could occur is that if you go with the PC Game Pass offer, it's very likely that you will not
be given the discount for Ultimate as those deals usually are for first time subscribers for any subscription.
