Why won't windows 11 install Xbox controller drivers?

I had tried all of that but rechecked and I did find there was a Windows update that was not installing. It was popping up as update need when I troubleshot the Windows Updates but would not successfully install no matter how many times I tried to install it. It was an update called Update for Windows Preview etc. I didn't really have much on my PC at the time as the games I was trying to play are small so I just decided to do a Windows reset and now my controllers work just fine and my games took 10 minutes to reinstall. Thank you for your prompt help! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have 32 bit goodness to enjoy lol.

I am having the same problem, however, nonE of the steps listed above have worked. I havent used my PC in a couple months, and it did Windows updates upon starting. I always connected the controller via USB, but now the PC isn't seeing it. On the device manager, it shows under "other devices" as a controller with a yellow exclaimation point, it says "driver unavailable". Windows update does not find a new driver, even after uninstalling it and rebooting. I downloaded the xbox accessories app but it does not detect any contoller. It just says "Don't see your Device? Make sure its on and connected". The help button points me in circles for troubleshooting the same things you have listed above. I have tried with 3 different contollers, all with the same results. they all show as "other device", with driver unavailable, and unistalling and rebooting all of them did not change the results. Is there a way to manually download the driver? Everything I've found on windows help says to let windows detect it to downlkoad, but that isn't working.

Of course. Why not.

The Xbox app Game Pass App is going to come pre-installed on Windows 11, and Microsft want users to connect their controllers trouble free to the new OS.

The biggest issue would be to check if your PC is compatible for Windows 11, not your controllers.

In any event, Win 11 won't suddenly make Win 10 obsolete.
