    Why won’t the internal fan spin?


    Today I set up a brand new, out of the box Xbox series X that I got on Amazon. Product looks great and packaging had no defects whatsoever. Set up wenot smoothly, then I tried to download games that I had already purchased and were save to my account. I got about 20% through downloading COD Modern Warefare and the system shut off. I turned it back on to be greeting with the overheating message and how to avoid it in the future. I resumed the download and it happened again within seconds. I noticed the internal cooling fan is not spinning at all. Do I need to send this out for service, or is there a setting I am missing to turn the cooling fan on?

    Hot Xbox One

    You have to be careful using third party fans, if the external fan makes the internal Xbox One fans spin faster than they are supposed to it could possibly damage it and causing more harm then when it's a bit warm. Alternatively when not spinning fast enough
    it could cause hot air to be trapped inside making the Xbox overheat faster

    Hi

    As long as your console is in a well ventilated area you will not hear the internal fan spin. The Series S is designed to be an extremely quite console, playing games or not.

    Yeah I know it's supposed to run hot, but like when I say the internal fan is barely spinning that's what I mean. It feels weak compared to most.

    X1 chirping sound and spontaneous shutoff

    The chirping sound could be an internal fan having trouble spinning which maybe why it shuts down and wont boot up for some time. If its over heating it may shut itself off as a precaution and wont turn on again until its cooled down enough. I hope that
    is not the case though as I don't know how easy that would be to solve other than replacing the fan.

    Hello!

    For the time being I would want to avoid the 3rd option, as even though purchasing a previously used Xbox 360 seems to be a cheap alternate, the console might show up problems in the long run. The one question that I have is (as I stated above), if an Intercooler
    makes the fan start spinning by sending air into the internal fan, or is my only option to just replace the internal fan with a new one? Thanks!
