Why won't my xbox work?

Dear xbox community through out the past months my console has been acting up sometimes the console would turn on but would didnt connect to my monitor. other times it would stay on the green boot up screen for long periods of time my console sometimes reaches the sign in screen but my controller won't respond my console is old gen so should I get a new console?

I'm sorry to read you're experiencing this issue with your Xbox console.

Please check if your Xbox console allows you to access the troubleshooting screen by following the steps below:

1. Ensure that there is no game disc present in the console. If there is, please remove it before proceeding further.

2. Turn off the Xbox and unplug the power cord for 30 seconds to make sure the console is completely turned off. Then plug it back in, but do not turn it on yet.

3. Press and hold the Pair and Eject buttons on the console, and then press the power button on the console once while continuing to hold the Pair and Eject buttons.

4. Keep holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10 to 15 seconds until you hear the console's power-on tone again, at which point you can release the buttons.

5. The console should power on and display the Xbox startup troubleshooter on the screen.

6. If you have successfully accessed the troubleshooter screen, please try resetting the console to its factory settings while keeping your games and apps. To do this, select "Reset this Xbox". When prompted, select the "Keep games and apps" option. This will reset the operating system and remove any potentially corrupt data that may be causing the issue, without deleting your apps or games.

7. Check if the problem persists after following all of the above steps.

When you get a chance, please give your Xbox One a full power cycle by holding down the power button for 8-10 seconds and then give it another try.

I'm in the uk and my Xbox live won't even connect, it was working yesterday and everything else in the house is working so why not the Xbox one

As posted by M3tal Daz3, you would have to contact
Nintendo support for more information on that seeing as that console is not officially supported by Microsoft and we don't have any information concerning it's ability to do what you're asking.

Just to confirm, is this the Xbox One 6 digit pin he is being asked to put? In case this is the Xbox pin, there are ways to reset this if he doesn't remember having a PIN.

If you’ve forgotten your PIN and can’t access restricted console features, follow these steps:

1. When you’re prompted to enter your PIN on the console, enter any 6-digit combination three times.

2. Enter his Microsoft account password when prompted.

3. Select Make a new PIN.

4. Enter a new PIN, and then enter it again to confirm.
