Why won’t my Xbox connect to the tv or controller

Turn off the console. Then press and hold the sync button on the console. Continue holding and then tapping the console's power button while holding down the sync button. At the second beep, release the sync button. It should open a menu if it works. Go and select reset console and keep games and apps.

If the power cycle didn't help it could also be the sync or cords are damaged or worn.

Have you tried physically power cycling the console? You can do so by holding the power button on the console down for 10 seconds. The next time it boots, it should show the green boot-up animation.
