Why Won’t My Xbox 360 Read Game Discs?

The major contributing factor to a disc read error is a dirty optical lens (the one that your Xbox 360 laser passes through to read the disc itself). If there is dirt or dust on the laser lens, your system will eventually fail to read the game disc. Lots
of brushes and DVD-style discs have been on the market for years that claim to clean the lens effectively.

Why does my Xbox series x 87 days old not play any disc whatsoever ?? Won’t play Xbox one game Xbox 360 dvd or Blu-ray won’t play anything it’s the 5th Xbox on the spin to do this ? YouTube has like 50 videos of people not being able to play a game they own on disc I think I’ll get full refund and buy PS5 no way will a Sony product not read discs

If your disc won't load or play on your Xbox One console, try the solutions on this ... If you can play game
discs but not CDs, DVDs, or Blu-ray Discs, make sure ... of your discs will play, or if you insert a disc and your console
doesn't recognize it. mywifiext

As BarrelBurrito01 stated, with age the laser can fail on devices. There are a few good options that could be a solution for you, however. My first step would be to check the Xbox Store to see if the games you want to play are available as digital versions
and purchase them there. This would eliminate the worry about the drive no longer working, and if you already have the game installed from the disc you most likely would not have to re-download the game.

Another option is backward compatibility on the Xbox One: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility. There are hundreds of original
Xbox as well as Xbox 360 games that are now fully compatible with the Xbox One. Many of these games have even been updated to run and look better on the newer hardware.

If your xbox is over five years old the laser can start to go bad with use over time. You can try cleaning your disc with a clean soft t-shirt. Even if the disc doesn't look dirty you can still try it. Sometimes that works.
