  1. Why won't my Series X let me setup Dolby Atmos?

My Xbox Series X is connected via an HDMI 2.1 cable to an LG C1 that supports Dolby Atmos. The LG C1 is connected via an HDMI 2.1 cable to an 11.2 soundbar system that supports Dolby Atmos. The option to enable Dolby Atmos is turned on for both the soundbar and the TV. I have used Dolby Atmos successfully with my bluray player (movies are awesome with Atmos in here). For some reason however, my Xbox Series X keeps telling me my TV doesn't support Dolby Atmos when it very clearly does. Why? How can I fix this? Every other device works just fine with Dolby Atmos but my Xbox keeps just won't even give me the option for it even though I have all the proper connections and supporting devices.

    :)

Why won't my Series X let me setup Dolby Atmos?

    Hi Jeffrey the Red,

Thank you for the response. We have here some additional recommendations below. Kindly try these steps:

1: Do not use a splitter in connecting the TV to the console. Try using the original cable that comes with TV

2: Make sure that the soundbar is connected also to Enhanced Audio Return Channel

3: Check and install updates for the TV and soundbar

4: Install the Dolby app on your Xbox console

5: Check in TV's Advanced settings > Sound. Make sure Dolby Atmos is enabled. If already enabled, please try disabling it first then after a few seconds, enable the option again.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Marrion

Why won't my Series X let me setup Dolby Atmos?

There's no error code. There's just no option to select Dolby Atmos in the Xbox Series X menu except for headphones. I can tell you now that selecting HDMI for display is not the solution either. I already tried that because I saw a suggestion elsewhere regarding a similar issue. When I do that instead of selecting auto-detect the Xbox throws a fit and drops into 480p display mode and says my TV doesn't support 4k (which it does). I think once while having it set to HDMI I managed to get it to let me set the resolution to 1440p or 1080p but no matter what it still said my tv doesn't support 4K and all those other features (which it does). The Xbox only seems to recognize my TVs other features and capabilities when I have display set to auto-detect but with it set to auto-detect it doesn't detect atmos support (which it has) and so doesn't present it as an option that can be selected.

Why won't my Series X let me setup Dolby Atmos?

    Hi Jeffrey the Red,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

Based on our resources the LG C1 supports Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos. In that case, may we ask for the error message or code regarding your set up? Please post a screenshot of the issue.

We suggest you try and calibrate your TV capabilities in a way you can configure optimal settings to your TV.

Steps on how to check your TV and HDMI connections:

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options.

    3. Select Video fidelity & overscan.

    4. Under Display, select HDMI.

See this page also for more details and steps we need to perform to troubleshoot the issue: Troubleshoot audio on your Xbox console | Xbox Support

    Kind regards,
    Marrion

Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

I have had the same issue with Netflix and Apple TV (a few months), no Dolby Atmos, although there is a label Dolby Atmos at the title and chosen track with Dolby Atmos in the application. My AVR shows a PCM input signal for this application.

My setup is: Xbox Series X - Denon AVR X3700H - TV Samsung 75Q80T
