    Why won't my disk drive take in or eject disks?


    About a year ago my disk drive on my Xbox One S decided to hold one of my games hostage and whenever I pressed the eject button it would just make a loud buzzing noise for a few seconds and nothing came out. I've tried a few times to use the manual eject button on the side but it was too jammed to come out and the disk would just poke out a bit. Finally today I managed to get the disk out fully, but now nothing will go inside. It goes in slightly, the Xbox starts making a weird mechanical noise and it just stops without taking it in. So I still can't play my physical copies.

    I'm planning on opening the Xbox up to clean out any dust or dirt but it sounds like dismantling the disk drive isn't exactly a beginner activity. Probably going to try anyway because it's driving me insane, but I'd love some insight on what might be the problem and if/how I could fix it. It's not super old either, I only bought it in 2020.

    Never turn the XBOX off with gears 3. Always eject the disk if it freezes. If the disk won't eject then power off.

    Is there anyway to eject a disc from the Homescreen?

    I may be missing something obvious, but if you're going to eject a disk, that means you, or someone else, would need to get up to either take the disk out / replace it with another disk / put the ejected disk in a case. So basically, someone has to actually
    get up / move to take care of the ejected disk. So, is it really a big issue if you do, in fact, have to push a button on the console to eject the disk? I don't get the issue?

    Yes if you have already tried to use the manual ejection slot and that didnt work then you will need to send the system in for repair.

    i had to take mine apart and get the disc out that way. I then fiddled with a plastic lever inside the dvd drive fixing it. Also while in there I got a QTIP with rubbing alcohol and dabbed the laser lightly. Ran perfect since. be very careful opening it
    and watch a YouTube video. Good luck

    PS. Sometimes moving the xbox with a disc in it or not can cause a little lever on dvd tray to get funky and only way to fix is to open her up.
