The audio lag between the Xbox series x and a Dolby atmos enabled soundbar is ridiculous. Why hasn’t this been fixed in over two years since the series x came out?

Why won’t Microsoft/Dolby fix the audio lag on the Xbox series x after thousands of complaints over the last two years?

My tv doesn’t support 4K at 120hz. It’s 60hz maximum and still have audio lag

Why won’t Microsoft/Dolby fix the audio lag on the Xbox series x after thousands of complaints over the last two years?

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. My name is Miguel O., Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue!

Some users have reported audio/visual sync issues while playing some games on the Xbox Series X with Dolby Atmos enabled. A/V latency problems normally occur because of specific hardware compatibility issues, faulty hardware like cables, or incorrect configuration on one or more devices. For the Xbox Series X, users should double-check the below checklist to make sure your setup fully supports Dolby Atmos.

    1. Are you connected to your TV or AVR using ARC or eARC?

    2. Are you using HDMI 2.1 supported cables?

    3. Does your AVR/soundbar support HDMI 2.1?

    4. Is your TV configured correctly to use ARC or eARC?

    5. Is Atmos enabled correctly on your Xbox Series X?

    6. Have you checked your AVR for any A/V sync settings to adjust?

    7. Do you notice A/V sync with all content or just specific content?

Additionally, one setting in the Xbox Series X that is known to cause some A/V sync errors is the feature to play content in 4k 120hz. This setting has been shown to cause audio delays with some hardware when playing Dolby Atmos content. Microsoft is currently looking into this issue. For a temporary solution, users should change the setting to 60hz.

Please see any of the above items apply to your system and fix as necessary. If you believe all is in correct order, please contact Dolby support to follow up with more troubleshooting.

Dolby Atmos Needs Fixed by Xbox

    Hi PRED4TOR!

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your audio. No one from Xbox support visits the forums and no one here has a direct line of contact to them.

After reading through the message you received from Dolby, it's actually that they themselves will need to update Dolby Access and not Microsoft. That Dolby is trying to work on an update to resolve the issue. The update might need assistance from Microsoft,
but overall it is a problem that Dolby needs to work on.

Again sorry about your issue with audio, but the fix is coming from Dolby and not Microsoft.
