Why we need xbox live for free games?

I wanna know why xbox is the only platform need xbox live to play free games like fortnite and apex

but in ps4 or pc they don't need that you can play free games without plus

I dont get it why we need to pay to play free games??

I hope they remove xbox live for free games

This is a common question and every time I'd rather focus the attention on one fact: Xbox Live Gold is not only for gaming. It offers multiple services (with high quality) that everyone uses when connecting to Xbox Live (party, social feature, clubs, LFG,etc).
That's why MS decided to require a payment for online gaming, even if a game is free-to-play.

Ye I agree it's been said a few times . Hopefully Microsoft will hear us and go that way. 👍

i know but still free games have to be free

but they require xbox live for free games

they just think about money nothing else

Thanks for voicing your opinion here on the forums! Xbox Live Gold is required to play any multiplayer game and a paid subscription is how Microsoft keeps their servers all over the world maintained, as keeping those servers up and running 24/7,
365 days a year all around the world costs a lot of money. It wouldn't be fair to make an exception for free to play games when normal games also need to pay for a subscription to play online.

There are many ways to earn the Xbox live gold subscription. First you can look for deals or discounts to get the subscription initially. Then there is also
Microsoft rewards/Bing rewardsif this is available in your region.
This allows you to accumulate points from searches that everyone nowadays does and get points from purchases of games, DLC etc. With the points you can then turn around and purchase Xbox Live Gold subscription. With an Xbox Live Gold
subscription you also get other benefits like, Free Games with Gold and Deals with Gold.

Its because they get more money out of it ,they charge for the benefit of the company

What's far more likely … it's about fairness and equality.

Why should a Gold subscriber subsidize a player who plays a certain multiplayer game for free when they have to pay to play their preferred games online?

Or, why should a developer be at a disadvantage because their business model has them release a full game at retail cost, when a competitor's business model relies on a free game with tons of micro-transactions?

When everyone contributes, everyone supports the system and contributes to its upkeep.
