Why was I charged twice on two different payment methods

Just to clarify, they are charging you twice on Xbox account associated with the same email, but charged to two different payment methods with different corresponding Purchase Orders?

If so, have you tried reaching out to Xbox Support via telephone or Live Chat, rather than email during normal business hours?

its simple

while you have a billing account

you MUST maintain a creditcard info

you cannot remove a creditcard unless you do two things

turn off autorenewal and you wait till the account turns silver and remove it

if you switch to a different payment method you need to authorize a different payment method

if you put an invalid payment method and when renewal comes and you get charged but it cannot charge you need to update the info to a valid method

everytime you purchase a promotion or a payment plan you must have a creditcard or a paypal account on file

If it's the same amount in a short period those aren't actual charges

They are verification charges they get returned within 48hours

Now if your payment method I'd denied then it wouldn't pass after 3 and you would need a different payment method

Depending on the item, some are just available on e per account

The error message means that the payment method is rejecting the charge, you could try a different payment method as gift cards or contact your payment provider and ask about the situation

That error can also happen if you are trying to use a payment method from a different region
