why the "x"ed out mics on on extinction?

occasionally, when I'm trying to play extinction, there are times when it shows a mic symbol - showing the people have a mic - but there's a little "x" on it and I they don't seem able to communicate with me. The strange part is that when this happens, it
seems that EVERYBODY with a mic has an x and I can speak to absolutely nobody. This makes me think they're not all coincidentally in parties or something and that it is a fault either of my xbox or maybe the COD server (?). Anybody else experience this?

I never understood why people thought Raam was hard or maybe i just got lucky and he went special ed on me.

[/quote]People use party chat while playing games, Mics in party chat won't register in the game. Kinect will while you are in party chat.

 

That means they're muted, you have to unmute them on your end.

 

This has happened to me a few times, usually following muting the entire lobby in multiplayer because of some annoying mic I couldn't figure out who it was, with the mute all command. I would sign on the next day, and the new lobby I jumped into was all
muted. I would assume that extinction would be the same. You should be able to un mute them individually or unmute them all at once.

 

Ive seen it happen to me in MP also. Just started yesterday.

 

It's been going on for a while. I don't know what triggers it, but it's happened to me several times randomly while playing extinction. I've never had it in mp like some. I wonder if it's kinect related somehow..

 

^^Seems like a few probs are Kinect related.

 

I haven't been able to chat on either ghosts or black ops2 thought maybe i was banned?

 

unplugged kinect still have x on all mics but mine

 

^^Unmuting the lobby is done via in game options, not unplugging.
