Why Scorestreaks are bad for Call of Duty

    /*

Anything I state here is solely my opinion, and is not to offend any person that may, for some reason, be offended. It is also not meant as a hate-speech against anyone who thinks otherwise. This post is only my opinion, but I encourage everyone to reply with
their own opinion on the topic.

    */

The Call of Duty franchise has been using Killstreaks and Scorestreaks for many years, and when you really think about it, the concept is the polar opposite of how it should be for a game of this type and even in real life.

Just to get started, if you are getting 25 kills for every 2 deaths, you should probably get an award, but not something as powerful as the 'Ghosts' K.E.M. or even the Goliath in AW. I think you should earn something smaller, something like a small
supply crate or a different type of ammunition (Incendiary, jacketed, etc), or even extra exp would be good awards in my opinion (of course they can be improved upon).

On the other hand, if you are getting 7 kills for every 43 deaths, then you are bound to call in assistance. Both in real life, and in game, you would have support sent in to your troops in hope that they can reclaim victory, not let them suffer. I
will touch up on this again later in the post.

In a game like Call of Duty, you are also [indirectly] promoting cheating by using the current system of kill/scorestreaks. Kids and adults alike disregard the rules at some point [in time], some more then others, but when those people see that they
are running up a deathstreak of 14 they will probably start getting pretty *** off (not all, but most I have come into contact with). The last time I saw a game from this franchise help the losing party was back in Modern Warfare 3, where players dying a certain
number of times can receive some sort of support, of their choosing. An example of this is the "Final Stand" deathstreak (MW3) which, after four consecutive deaths, allowed you to take a final stand before dying. This allowed the player to have another chance
at life, by having the player fall to the fall as right before they die, with their primary weapon, allowing them to kill the enemy (as long as the enemy doesn't get another shot at you, which hits). You can eventually stand back up as if it never happened
if you manage to stay alive and heal yourself.

When a losing player sees the winner gets a Chopper Gunner (yes, it is an old streak, just an example) in the air each time the previous one is called away or shot down, and it keep killing them when they spawn into the game, what chance do they have
at winning? None. The system is [indirectly] encouraging people to cheat in any way possible, so they can be less frustrated by what seems to be an endless amount of bullets raining down on them from a gunner.

However, when a losing person gets support, it is a sigh of relief for them, as they still have hope. The, lets just call these
things lifesavers for the purpose of this post. Lifesavers should not be too powerful although they should provide some support to the losing player, who may be issued some extra armor, or maybe a drone to do some reconnaissance, or whatever else may
    be fit.

I think it would be ideal to cut my story short here, as I don't think anyone wants to read an entire book on how the killstreak/scorestreak system is bad. Please leave opinions in the replies below!

    :)

Scorestreaks much to strong and knife is to werk

In this version of call of duty the scorestreaks are far to strong and the knife only to weak. After prestige i quit.

There has been 0 changes from BO 1 too this game, face it. They gave you guns/perks/maps/scorestreaks. Its pathetic what they consider a NEW game.

[/quote]So many people want Call of Duty to change. Do you want it to become a completely different game? There are enough differences in this game compared to the previous so that it still looks like Call of Duty and has it's core elements intact. Don't
like the Call of Duty formula? Good for you. Why would you buy a game you're not going to like?

I tend to agree with you. Score streaks don't really enhance the game for me. I will admit it is fun to get a bombing run, or a warbird and try and rain down on the other team, but more often then not, I am on the receiving end of that, which isn't fun.
I think lethal streaks and some non-lethal (system hack) are a significant cause of players backing out of games. I can't count how many times I look at the score board and realize half my team has left. I would like to see more non-lethal streaks such as
the UAV, blackbird, UAV with threat detection, etc as a reward and keep the game gun on gun.

  5. I think you have raised some good points .

As I die a lot , I would like a chopper gunner after my 5th death in a row .lol.

I did manage a 12/1 kd in one game tho .

Tbh , the most useful thing I can think of , is invincibiliy for 5 secs when you spawn , like the old cods .

The ammount of times I have been spawn killed , is mental .

I completely agree. It is fun, but when the other team starts to leave, it also gets boring for most people on the winning team, including me.

That's a pretty good idea, actually. The spawn-killing is the number one reason why I originally left Call of Duty (starting to slowly again but I don't know if I will keep going), and I hope it gets fixed soon.

  7. Every scorestreak/killstreak is easily countered. EMP, Blindeye, or shoot it down. Not a big deal really. About spawn killing--Spawn trapping is a huge part of the game (in Dom for sure). Either you trap them or they will trap you, easy really. Alot of the
spawn killing in this game is because of YOUR teammates. If teammates are scattered about the map, spawns become very choatic and random, however, if you are working as a team, the enemy will always spawn in their "spawn" area. Spawns are easily very controllable,
but you have to have team communication. Playing in parties is the best way to play CoD (even though I havent played in one party yet in this CoD on the Xbone). I did used to always play partied up though, with lots of guys from these forums in fact. Anywho,
CONNECTION is my main gripe with CoD. Its very inconsistent, even with my home recent upgrade to FIOS fibre optic. I can have 5 games of going 45-10 and then go 3-37 in the same EXACT lobby. Either my bullets are killing or they or not. Thats frustrating to
    me.

Another good point uneasy , connnection .

That goes a good way to explain huge differences in k/d , I don't suppose that will ever change tho .

I wish I had more of the 12/1 ones ..lol

I am trying to remember which of the cods used to "migrate " host during play , at least they tried to balance , as people left / joined.

Just wanted to say these are all great points. I kinda think that spawn trapping should be dealt with though. I mean its fun and all but it kinda goes against the point of the game too, don't ya think?

  10. ^^Spawn trapping IS the game. Im not talking spawn killing where guys would post up in spawn and kinfe people when they spawn in, but trapping another team back off the flags is the Domination experience.

Well, yeah, it is, but there is a difference between trapping someone in there spawn and not letting them take a single step. My best example is how on Ghosts, I have joined many lobbies where the other team gets together with machine guns and just
keeps firing on the spawn points, killing my team as soon as we respawn, without hesitation. The spawns are terrible, even worse in certain game types, as they never change, even if there is no possible way to survive three steps....

  12. ^^Yeah, spawn "killing" is a flaw and exploit. SPAWN TRAPPING is a legit tactical startegy, as I stated before.

  13. Why Scorestreaks are bad for Call of Duty

I have spawned inside a building , with an enemy coming down the stairs , killed before I even knew where I was ..

I dont think people are hanging around spawn points , on purpose , just the spawn system is bad .

At least a few second of god mode would let you have Some chance to defend yourself , or get out of the way of killstreaks.

  14. Spawns are very controllable in CoDs. The "spawning in" gets very chaotic and erratic when YOUR team is spread all over the map. I have been killed by a bombing run three times before. It killed me (on one end of map), I spawned in really fast and it killed
me again (near middle of map), then I spawned in again towards the other end of the map and it got me again. I do notice that I can take some damage some of the time when initially spawning in. It does take a "team" or communication, but the spawns are very
    easily controllable.

In regards to Scorestreaks. I am, in no way, a top notch player like we see on all the you tube channels. However since I am at best am average player (usually can go 3-4 more kills than deaths but very rarely will see anything over 14 kills. I tend to
play in a support role. In Mw2 and MW3 it was very satisfying blotting out someones new called Harrier or air support. I was surprised that Ghosts took this ability away ( to an extent) and also AW - the Stinger takes forever to lock on and takes forever
to take out someones warship. The surprising part of this is Ghosts and AW are like set in the future and ground to air destruction should be right on top. I was watching Ali-A the other day and I would bet that at least 1/2 of his kills and other good COD
players come from these kill streaks. I quit trying to shoot down the warships when I would just be killed too fast either from other team rushers/snipers or the warship itself. The Paladin, in my opinion is way over-powered. I think even more so that the
    AC130.

I also agree a 3-5second buffer of increased health would be nice to survive the death spawns (Ones where you are spawned in the same area as the enemy).
