Why my Xbox has games connection problems?

Why is my Xbox un able to connect to Xbox Live when it clearly states it has a network connection?

It confirms a network connection but sometimes doesn't connect to Xbox Live and sometimes does.

This has been going on for a while now, iv'e noticed a high frequency of system updates yet this problem is still occurring!

Why is this an issue though? I mean I have no problem connecting to my friends on PC games. Why is it an issue with Xbox Live?
