    Why isn't my Xbox controller working?


    My Xbox Series controller isn't working. It can turn on my Xbox, but then disconnects and blinks a few times before shuttting off. I restarted it mutiple times and changed batteries and it did nothing. Now i just opened the back and see some slight corrosion on one of the battery connectors. Is this the issue and if it is how do I solve it? Can I replace the battery connector from my old Xbox one controller?

    I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Xbox series controller. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

    That is a possibility, but we will need to isolate the case first. Try to connect the controller on your console using a cable or use a different cable.

    Also, try to update the controller's firmware using Windows PC to see if it works. Here's how:

    Update your controller on Windows 10/11 by using the Xbox Accessories app:

    If you don’t already have the app installed, get it in the Store:

    Open the Xbox Accessories app.
    Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
    When the controller is connected, you'll see the message Update Required if an update is mandatory. Install the update.

    Things to keep in mind:

    The Xbox Accessories app is available only on Windows 10/11.
    Updating the controller over Bluetooth is not supported.

    Try if the same thing happens connected via USB cable, also check on a PC if the app "Xbox Accessories" detects it and tells you any pending update.

    In case it is not detected by any device and behaves the same way via USB, you will have to apply the warranty if you still have it.
