Why is Xbox app asking me to purchase Sea of Thieves again after resetting my PC?

do me a favour and try the xbox app again? i downloaded the closed beta for sea of thieves for that stress test weekend and it actually showed my friends list. now my xbox app is not crashing (hope i dont jynx it)

Probably that's the Steam version of sea of thieves, this is why you're not able to see the compatibility option.

What are your hardware specs?
Can you try reinstalling the game to see if maybe the current installation has some kind of corruption

But before that try repairing and resetting the game

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Then do the same for the Sea of thieves app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for sea of thieves app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset and try again

You're trying to play Sea of Thieves on Windows 10 PC, correct?

If so, on your Windows 10 PC, if you go to Settings>Apps>Xbox app>Advanced Options>Reset.

Next, making sure you're signed out of the Xbox app and try signing back in to launch Sea of Thieves via Xbox Game Pass.

Just to double check, is your Steam account connected to your Microsoft account?

Open game bar (Windows key + G) > Settings > Accounts > if yes, please unlink it temporarily. After that do the previous, but only the reset and repair thing with these apps:

Game Bar, Xbox App, Sea of thieves app.

Restart your PC, open game bar again and link your steam account. And finally try again .

By the way, the play option (the ones that redirect you to Steam) is the one inside the Xbox PC app?
