Why Is There No Recall?

Today I have attempted to power on my Xbox Series X. When I attempt to turn the console on, via the power button, it makes the "power up" chime, and the light powers on momentarily, however I am faced with nothing but disappointment. The console make's a "click" sound internally and the light powers off. I have attempted all official Microsoft troubleshooting to no avail.

To make matters worse for me, and others, I have found nothing but similar reports online about this issue. Specifically Reddit posts which highlight that there is an issue, known to Microsoft, that has not been alleviated by the short warranty period. My warranty ended on 1/11/23, just eight days before I began to experience this frustrating issue. I have always sworn by Xbox, however I do believe this experience has just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I am now faced with the unfortunate truth of having to shell out an additional $299 to have a console repaired that I already paid $499 for, AND spent countless hours just to be able to track down.

The biggest slap to the face of the consumer is that this issue is something that is becoming more and more prominent (much like the Xbox 360 "Red Ring of Death") and yet Microsoft has not followed their own past practice and offered an extended manufacturer warranty to offset this issue for people like me - the average consumer.

When people are paying several hundred dollars for a console, that is supposed to be high quality, and there is such a high percentage of them having this same issue, one would think they would want to FIX the problem. At least issue a repair bulletin on what the problem is and what parts to buy to fix it.

First off, love the username! Also, my Xbox is doing this exact same thing 😡 it's SO FRUSTRATING! These consoles are way too expensive to be having these common, widespread issues. I was about to take mine apart and replace the internal power supply, but I read all these comments, stating that might not fix it. Why does this always seem to happen, right after the warranty is up? There should DEFINITELY be a recall.

Recalls are for safety issues

Unless yoir console.is exploding or catching fire other then a surge or leaking clear fluid not counting spills

recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle, equipment, car seat, or tire creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet minimum safety standards

This also affects food products and toys for choking hazards etc

As far as I know thete has never been an exploding console

There have been recalls on lithium hence why you cant take scooters on trains or buses

After a certain stewardess died from her exploding iPhone

Consoles.don't he lithium.except for switch and switch pro but good luck getting Nintendo to recall anything they only begrudgingly do free joycons repairs

And as long as you use it in a well ventilated spot it should.'ve cool

And pc level heat is expected since they ate RDNA CPUS

I had my series x and xbox one og and s and x since launch other then my controller taking a dive into the lake.I didn't have issues

A.consumer reports.or.a.REAL consumer.agency would.be real data

You know the one whrre you send ypur device for.months and.pay hundreds of.dollars for to prove it wasn't your fault

And it would.have.to be hundreds of people doing thr some thing for them.to offer a judgement not.just.one case

Consumer.agencies are independent

If you think you have. A case spend thr hindreds to test and ask.the hundreds of people.you are quoting.too that's what the consumer agency is for if you can prove it.

Thats how the rrod warranty started and how the joycons unlimited replacement started

Though Nintendo will not replace joycons now because Nintendo said it's over joycons are invincible

This whole discussion is pointless, there will never be a recall on a game. It's a video game, not a car with the chance of the brakes failing or the air bag blowing up in your face. Maybe they would ask the retailers to send back unsold copies and replace
them with a newer version, but there's no way in hell they would ask the customers who bought it to send the game back.
