Why is the xbox app so garbage right now?

it maybe your internet or location, i downloaded 6 games on there totalling 145GB not an issue and downloaded overnight easily.

thats a good question, i was trying to show my friend a video i did the other day and it kept lagging and wouldn't play it all the way through, i restarted the app, and it did the same thing.

That problem may have to do where you live. You could try reset your router, clear the app cache from Microsoft Store, our force the app to shutdown. That maybe resolve some of your problems. If you live on US, maybe its the overuse of the internet on
that country.

Indeed. There is a fair bit of confusion of how the app works. In actual fact, just how Tezzarrific has stated, the beta app initiates the download, but the Windows Store actually does the downloading.

As you can see from this screenshot below taken from my PC. Beta app used to get Hydro Thunder, but the actual download is done through the Windows Store.

The Xbox PC beta app isn't a stand-alone download application like Steam or Origin, it's more like a front end or a portal.





Now I'm not saying here that I haven't had issues, I have. Some downloads have been very slow. Depends on when I tried to download them and whether there were any issues with LIVE.

Remember with the global pandemic, servers are seeing a lot more demand for content, and with more and more people online at the moment speeds will not be optimal.

What games are you having issues downloading?

Could be internet issues with everyone on as well.
