Why is the sync button on my console deactivated?

I’m just trying to get any of my controllers to pair with the xbox and none of them are able to as the xbox sync button causes no action. All controllers when unplugged or plugged in go into a slow light loop as if there is no system to pair to, and the Xbox not allowing any of them to connect via wire and none to connect because of the deactivated sync button. This is the third time it’s happened in 3 days and had not changed even upon multiple hard resets

I appreciate your efforts, Matthew. So you've already tried to factory reset your console (keep games and apps)? How about factory reset (remove everything)?

Tried with multiple cables, unable to control Xbox without the controllers pairing. Only solution I’ve found is unplugging and hard resetting the Xbox multiple times and just getting lucky hoping it doesn’t happen again. No Microsoft response has helped, just an upsetting Xbox bug

Sorry to hear about what happened. Let's do our best here to get this sorted out.

Since you can't connect any of your controllers, that means that you can't navigate through the Settings, right?

Have you tried connecting your controller using another USB cable? Maybe it will work with a different cable. You could as well try to connect a keyboard if you could navigate through your console settings so we could perform a factory reset.

If you could navigate through the Settings, try to perform a factory reset.
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

Good evening, I have the same issue as well. I have an xbox elite series 2 controller and stealth 700s wireless turtle beaches synced to my console

have you tried hitting the sync button on your console? My console doesnt register the sync button is pushed down or anything but I realized it's because of the charging cords connected to my console so its registering as wired. But before that fix I use
to hard reset my console to resync everything I dont understand why I'm having such an issue but I have figured out a way to fix it.

Sync the Controller:
To sync a wireless controller with your Xbox, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on the controller to turn it on.
Press and hold the small sync button on the front of the Xbox Series X console (located near the USB port).
While holding the sync button on the console, press and hold the sync button on the controller (located on the top near the Xbox button).
Release both sync buttons when the controller's Xbox button starts flashing. The controller should now be synced with the console.
