    Why is the experience of using Cortana getting worse with every Xbox One Update?


    Cortana never worked as quickly as the initial Xbox Commands but was capable of doing more.

    Two years later and Cortana functions worse than she did when launched in 2016 on the Xbox One.

    I've tried reboots, hard restarts, re-configuring the Kinect and using headphones attached to a controller.

    Cortana performs horridly in 2018.

    Behavior "Hey Cortana" =

    • No response at all.
    • ... and she stops listening.
    • Only hears "Hey Cortana" and searches the web for that phrase.
    • Gets stuck in a loop where the only thing heard and searched for is "Hey Cortana".

    Has Microsoft COMPLETELY ABANDONED Cortana?

    Annoying Cortana Popup on Bootup.

    I do not want to use Cortana so I have it disabled. But now everytime I boot up my Xbox One console it keeps popping up a notification forcing me to enable the Cortana. Is there any way to shut this annoying pop-up warning off? I'm tired of being told to
    enable Cortana every time I turn on my Xbox. I don't want to use Cortana. Why can't the Xbox understand that and just drop the subject? Not only do I gey that dumb Cortana pop-up, now I also get those sound effects that play every time I use the controller
    to turn on the console. What the hell are they doing to this console? Thy're making it worse with every update!!

    With every update Cortana seems to get worse. The only thing Cortana can sometimes successfully do now is turn on/off the console and open apps. Sometimes you can play songs, but navigating through apps like you used to be able to do seems to have been completely
    removed from the functionality, rendering Cortana pretty much useless because why use Cortana when you have to use the controller for 90% of the things you need to do in an app. Absolute fail on Microsoft's part.

    Cortana has not been abandoned, but please report the bug through the console. Also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. There might be an update on the server side that did not fully apply and when it is reinstall should be 100%

    Hi, Sorry to hear of the issues you are having with Cortana. Reporting the bug using the Xbox Insider hub would be the best way to do it. For the time being you can disable her, as Cortana cannot be uninstalled or reinstalled, as it is part of the system.

    I went into settings and changed it back to 'xbox' instead of 'hey cortana' as soon as it got changed to cortana. it still works as well as it always did, which was never great. microsoft won't admit to abandoning cortana. but they certainly abandoned
    Kinect. as of September 2018, there is amazon alexa integration with xbox. which should give you an idea how invested microsoft is or isn't in cortana on xbox. I don't have an xbox one S, but I don't even think it has cortana.

    Cortana has not been abandoned, but please report the bug through the console. Also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. There might be an update on the server side that did not fully apply and when it is reinstall should be 100%
