Why is my xbox update stuck at 86% in 2023? Hard reset doesn't seem to do much, it goes...

Nice to meet you! I'm Darhyl, a fellow gamer. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I am here to help. If I may ask, does your console connected to the internet, wired or wireless?

I just want to confirm, are you able to navigate through the console dashboard already?

If not, kindly perform a factory reset keep my games and apps using the Xbox troubleshooter menu, here's how:

Note: While doing this, please use a wired network connection as part of the troubleshooting step.

Before you proceed with your Factory reset I just want to inform you that you will only choose Reset and keep my games and apps to make sure your saved data won't be deleted permanently and also all of the accounts that are set as home Xbox will be removed and all signed in accounts will be signed out from the console.

You can update your console using the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. To bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter, follow these steps:

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button  on the console.

Note The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on these consoles by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button .

Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

Then once you have seen the 4 options available on the Troubleshooting menu screen, click on Reset this Xbox, (Factory reset keep my games and apps)

Mine 2 highest I hit was max 96% & back to 76% looping.

I had the same problem with the September update I had to keep reseting it so it could force apply the update while reseting I tried that now with the october update and it's not working my xbox one is literally stuck in a update loop my only options are to try again check internet and turn off console and I tried reseting kept. Games and apps once that didn’t work I tried removing everything no dice

Mine is doing the same thing

My xbox turns off on its own even when starting this process. Like the other person, my percentage doesn't exceed 86%
