i dont even load any of the xbox apps on pc, all my games are installed via the store and are visible in the start menu, you dont need the xbox apps for anything.

You can't disable the snap app.

When you press the Xbox button what are you expecting? For it to go to Dashboard?

What app is it snapping for you? Is it the Achievements app?

Try the following:

Load any full screen game

Press the Xbox Button, if it snaps an app, highlight the snapped application

Press the MENU button (3 lines where START used to be on Xbox 360)

Select Go Full Screen

When the application goes full screen

Press the Xbox Button

It should take you back to the Dashboard, then just load your game of choice and now apps shouldn't snap unless you tell them to.

I also had the same problem where the dashboard would not load but the "Xbox" button and the menus accessed through it would. Starting my Xbox with the hard drive removed and then inserting it would work but you have to do this every time you turn Xbox
off and on. I was able to fix mine permanently (so far) by downloading my profile from the navigation menu to a different storage unit (in my case the internal memory) after i did this my profile that was on my hard drive showed as corrupt then disappeared
completely. Now The dashboard loads with no problems, I don't know why this worked or if it will for others but it is worth a try.
