Why is my Xbox downloading games so slow?

I'm downloading war thunder and it's only downloading maybe at most 12 mbps if it does download. It's not my network as my phone will download 100+ mbps. There's 0 reason it should take 8+ hours to download a game where my phone will literally do it in a few minutes at the longest. What is going on with Microsoft

Hey Robert, totally get how frustrating that is. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with that!

First, check the Xbox Status page to see if there are any server outages:

If everything looks normal there, try these steps:

1. Pause and resume the download.

2. Restart the Xbox app and the PC.

3. If it’s still slow, reset the Xbox app and Microsoft Store:

- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps

- Find Xbox and Microsoft Store

- Click the three dots > Advanced options > Scroll down and hit Reset

That usually clears up any glitches. Hopefully the speed picks up after that! If you have any other questions please let me know.

Having problem with games on demand games that are very slow downloading on high speed connection.Tell me why is it so slow for these games or buy the disc copy of each game that is shown in my status.Thanks for helping me.

I don't believe they do this.

Please, set the priority to the Xbox App to high on Windows.

Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc on your keyboard to open the Task Manager.

Search for XBOX in the programs list and right-click it > Expand > Select Xbox App.

Right-click it > Select “Go to details,” then find “XboxPcAppFT.exe” in the program list, right-click it, select “Set priority,” and then, “High.

Then, reset your connection on Windows.

Press Windows Key + X > Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset > Reset Now.

This should help you improve your connection with Microsoft.

hey, i was just wondering why my updates are going so slow that they are 50 kb a second when my download speed is 40?

Try to close your game and check your download speed again.

I'm on gigabit internet as well.

Xbox app on PC is the only slow app when it comes to downloads. Consistently caps out at about ~22MBPS (~175mbps) where as plenty of other game launchers such as Steam/Uplay/Battle.net pull upwards of ~100MBPS (~800mbps). I'm on a gigabit connection. Why is the Xbox app so slow to download and install games? Its pathetic.
