why is my Xbox asking for a pin when I never created one.

I'm sorry you are experiencing issues creating a new profile.

I believe the PIN you are being prompted to enter is from the "Access Restrictions" feature, and not the one you create at Settings > Account > Sign-in, Security, and PIN.

If you don't mind, could you give this a try?

- Go to Settings > System > Access restrictions.
- Select "Access restriction details"
- Check the box for "Allow adding & creating new profiles"

Once this is done, you should be able to create a new profile.

* Alternatively, you can select "Remove Access PIN" on the previous screen to remove the PIN code. If you don't remember what the PIN code is, enter the wrong PIN three times in a row so it defaults to your account's password.

I recently bought my xbox one . And when I created a gamer tag , it never asked me to setup a country for it . At the beginning when I was configuring my system it asked me for country/date and time and that's all.

Hi, thank you for the advice but it specifically is not asking for an Xbox pin, and will not let me enter more than four digits when prompted for my non-existent pin. Whenever it says my pin is incorrect, it explicitly tells me to change my pin through Windows Hello. Everything that is going on here is all on Windows computers. No consoles are involved. I can't get a screenshot at the moment as the computer that's been having the error is currently in use and I cannot get access to it, I will edit this post or reply to it with a screenshot when I am able to get to it. A quick rundown of the situation is as follows:

There are two computers upstairs, one with Gamepass Ultimate, one without

We are trying to put the Gamepass Ultimate account onto the computer that does not have it.

When trying to sign in, the Xbox PC app asks for a Windows Hello Pin that does not exist

There is no possible way to bypass this pin, and no pins work, as no pin exists.

We try logging a different account onto the computer, it asks for another pin that does not exist.

App thinks its a dictionary attack and locks us out of the Xbox PC app

We just want to get my account onto a new computer, that's all we want, but it's asking for login info that doesn't exist

I sign in to PC with his account and tried to open MSStore/Xbox launcher with my credentials. It asked for password than for PIN. PIN was not recognized [I am sure this is correct PIN]

Try using your Son's pin at that screen... I know, you're going to tell me it is your email that is shown... how could his pin work in that dialog box??

Don't ask me how/why, but it should. That is what I had to do to add MY store account to my kids login.

Have you tried to set a PIN code for your account login?

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & PIN > Create my PIN.

Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & PIN > Change my sign-in & security preferences. Choose Ask for my PIN or Lock it down to use the default security settings.
