Have you tried a different headset?

What you're describing sounds like there is a break in the wire of the headset cord and it only works in certain positions when the wiring can make contact where the break is.

Okay well why is it when i plug in my wired earphones and i only get a static noise from my xbox 360 controller? :/

Sorry to hear about the issue. Just a heads up that it's currently listed from the support link below that there's a known issue where controllers are randomly losing sync or disconnecting from the console. It's under the February 2023 update.

Be sure to report the issue via the Report a problem app on your console for the Xbox team to properly investigate the matter. You may check your guide here https://support.xbox.com/help/account-profile/m... on how to report it.

Alternatively, try to connect one of your controller using a Windows PC via USB cable and try to update it with the Xbox Accessories app if there's a new update from PC side. I have 2 controllers. One that is wired, and I have separate controller that is wireless. When I plug in my wireless controller it doesn't turn on, and it makes my other wired controller which is plugged in turn off. The wired one works fine by itself. but
once the wireless one is plugged in it doesnt work. What could be the problem?
