    I can play story mode but cannot go online. Always could before. Now it says my profile cannot play online. How do I fix this ?

    First we need to verify the status of your subscription.

    Please go to https://account.microsoft.com>; Services and subscription.

    Once verified that your subscription is active kindly proceed with turning off your device completely, unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

    When your device is ON, kindly launch the game and see if the game works.

    Story Mode is an add-on to GTA 5 Online. You won't be able to play it unless you own GTA 5 Online.
