Why is my only xbox account a child account>

If you can do this procedure on a computer:

Disable parental controls.
Press Windows + X and click Control Panel, then under User Accounts click Set Up Parental Controls. ...
Click on the account you want to configure the web filter for.
Under Parental Controls, click Disable.

I have an adult account which I have tried to register as a child on xbox.com and they have taken the money 50p from my account but have not updated it's status. Therefore I cannot put restrictions on the account. It seems my only option is to delete it
but I don't understand why it's not registering as a child when the birthdate is a childs and they have registered that they have taken payment???

You cannot change an Adult account to a child account. The 50p charge is to change a child account to an adult account

Keep in mind you are responsible for anything that occurs on your account per the
Code of Conduct, which you agreed to when you created your account.

This is why every user should have their own account and not share accounts. It's also why Microsoft offers many ways for parents to control child accounts.

Hello Dan,

There is no error displayed. I added Xbox Live account of my second child via Download Profile on Xbox. The account was added without a problem. Then I checked Settings > Family, but there was only an account of my first child. The same situation is on
my XBox Live Account (on the internet); under Security, Family...-->Privacy & Online Safety. There is only first child too.

Is your child account 18 years old based on the date of birth you originally entered when making the account? If not then that is why it wont change to an adult account. Note that if you changed the date of birth on your Microsoft account that will not change
the date of birth on you Xbox Account. The child-adult upgrade system only looks at the date of birth that was originally entered when your Xbox account was made.
