    Why is my latency so high this week (255ms)?


    Following the recent update, my latency has been over 250ms. I have reset the router, Xbox, DNS (Cloudflare) and tried everything Microsoft suggest. Yet, my latency remains high here in Abu Dhabi. It was an acceptable 120ms prior to Tuesday. Why has it increased so much? By the way, the download speed is 250mb, upload 80mb on the Xbox. Speed test on my laptop is higher but shows only 3ms lag. I am assuming the issue is the communication with the Microsoft server. How long until this is resolved?

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

    We may just need to perform troubleshooting steps such as extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

    " 1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

    2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

    3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state."

    The test on the xbox is apparently testing against a server in Seatle, USA which is why you are getting high latency.
