Why is my latency higher on the automatic Xbox port 3074 compared to using manual port 54116

You asked why your latency is higher on the automatic Xbox port 3074 compared to using manual port 54116. There are several possible factors that could affect your latency.



One factor is the availability of port 3074 on your home router/gateway. Xbox consoles default to using UDP 3074 as their preferred port for multiplayer, party chat, and console streaming. An Xbox will attempt to request a port mapping for UDP 3074 from the home router/gateway via UPnP. If the port is already mapped to another device and the router/gateway responds with a port mapping conflict, the Xbox will then attempt to map a different port from the ephemeral range. This could result in higher latency if the alternative port is not optimal for your network.



Another factor is the configuration of your internet service provider (ISP). Some ISPs may block or throttle certain ports or traffic types, such as UDP 3074, which could affect your latency. You may want to contact your ISP and ask them to open the following ports on your router:



- Port 88 (UDP)

- Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

- Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

- Port 80 (TCP)

- Port 500 (UDP)

- Port 3544 (UDP)

- Port 4500 (UDP)



You may also want to ask them to disable and then enable again the UPnP function on your router/gateway, and to put your console's IP in the DMZ zone configuration.



A third factor is the quality of service (QoS) tagging settings on your Xbox console. QoS tagging is a feature that sets priority values on latency-sensitive outbound networking traffic such as party chat, console streaming, and multiplayer (in supported games). You may want to enable QoS tagging on your console if it is supported by your network.



To summarize, your latency may be higher on port 3074 than on port 54116 due to port availability, ISP configuration, or QoS tagging settings. You can try some of the steps mentioned above to improve your latency on port 3074, or you can continue using port 54116 if it works better for you.

Hello Selsmo, port 3074 is the main port for Live servers, the static IP issue on your console does not influence the port change.

Are you leaving the option on automatic or manual?

For port, I leave it on automatic since it’s the only way I can connect to port 3074.

For IP, I have it on manual.

Go to Settings'Network Settings'Advanced Settings'Aternative Port Selection»Manual

And then choose different port from the 3074.

Ok so what you want to do is go to your network settings and keep spaming test xbox live connection 5+ time and that should automatically open a port if not do it manually in port forwarding use udp 3074 this will help you port forward
