    Why is my fan getting louder all of a sudden?


    I've had my xsx since March 2021 and up until like late October to early November the fan has been quiet but now the fan has been getting increasingly loud when I play d2, drg, cyberpunk and grounded. Now one would think it's because those games are graphic heavy but I've been playing those games forever and not once did my fan get loud, now all of a sudden I can hear my fan over my headset, especially when I play drg. I took it apart and cleaned it out but the most dust I found was in the main components vent and it was one small dust ball. Put it back together and it was fine for 2 days then back to loud fan. I don't have it in a bad spot or anything blocking it and I'm afraid it might be the thermal paste but I've only had it for like 7 months.

    Side note - coincidentally the fan started getting louder after drg got the plaguefall update and d2 got its new season. But that doesn't explain why cyberpunk is now starting to make my fan kick up so I doubt it's because of the updates the games got.

    To be fair, most consumer electronics have "void if opened" warranty stipulations...if you buy a PC or laptop and open it to clean, a lot of companies will void the warranty. For the Series X, you can clean it but only in so far as you are able from the outside

    I understand and it could have been something with more graphics at the time. Give your local gaming store a try and see if they can repair it

    Factory reset didn't help. I think it's more of a software issue since the fan kicks up when the screen is showing certain things in game but my issue is that it's just now doing on games I've been playing for months

    I'm sorry to have to tell you that but opening up the console for any reason does mean that Xbox would not even take a look at it now.
