Unfortunately I don't think much is going to change in the near future with how female gamers are treated on the platform. I'm a female gamer and I don't advertise it because in the past when people have realized that I am, it's led to really innapropriate/offensive
messages coming my way. :/ I just do my own thing and game like normal, and when people say, "Hi man" or "Thanks bro" or "Hey dude", I just say "No problem" or whatever it may be, and leave it at that. I've never corrected anyone and said I'm female, because
in reality a gamer is a gamer, it shouldn't matter if you're male or female, but I also just don't want to open that door to those kinds of messages.

The only way you can change your icon at the moment is through the system itself via USB or

the PC app.

All I need is a mic to confirm I'm a girl?

Hell, my voice hasn't changed yet. I could still pass off as a girl, invite to your party, I swear am a female! Ignore my gamertag! Lol.

My xbox gamerpic of several years has changed without my input.

Is there an audit trail that allows me to see who made this change. I am concerned someone may have access to my account.

I changed mine a few weeks back to a photo and had no issues until a few days ago when it started displaying a random pic I've never seen before (I've just gone through the default images available and can't spot it). I know my account hasn't been accessed
by anyone else because I have 2FA and a very secure password.

The strange thing is my friends still see my usual photo and it still appeared when I opened the Xbox app on my PC, and it changed itself back as well. So basically my photo randomly changes to the same cartoon pic, then changes back and only I see it.

Tonight I've re-uploaded the photo to see if this stops it happening.

Being a female I get a lot of iffy messages and photos and some adult guy sent a photo of his private part to my 8 year old niece when she was playing on her own account. The best advice I can give is to Report and Block and, maybe, just sit your son down
and gently tell him that there are some people like that out there and what to do when it happens. I know of someone who used to take photos of all the messages/photos in some sort of record to send to MS but I do not know what the outcome to that was.
