    Why is microsoft actively trying to prevent me from accessing my account??


    Hi, i am writing this on a secondary account, because i cannot access my main account apparently in the near future. I forgot my password, so i decide to reset it, get the code to my gmail and input it in. I have two factor authentication so i go get my phone, in that time the session expires. Send another code, input it, try to get the code to phone: "youve requested too many codes today, try again tomorrow". Well okay, i wait the 24 hours. Try to reset the password again, get the code to email and input it. Try to get the code to phone: "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method". Try it again and no luck, so guess I'm completely locked out since the help form doesn't work due to two factor authentication.

    And the best part? I had changed my PC's cpu and motherboard before this, so it asks me to reset the pin, but to do that, i have to log in and i have like mentioned forgotten my password, and resetting it is basically blocked right now, so i cannot even get to my computer. Microsoft has locked me out of my pc and account basically.

    All my work is on my pc too, so leaving it locked for another day is pretty much out of the question.

    Aha, that explains why I can't promote myself on the computer! I don't have a Xbox 360 though, so I'll have to ask a friend about it.

    In any case, I consider my questions to be answered and this topic to have run its course. Again, thanks all the help! :)

    Right, it's update time (a few days overdue)!

    I checked my parental account and it turned out that there was indeed no gamertag. After fixing that matter the pages would load without any hitches. However, I couldn't find the promote account option which makes me wonder if I have been looking in the
    wrong place(s).

    In any case, I thought I might as well look over my billing info but my security needed some updates, meaning I'll have to wait until the end of August before looking into that matter.

    Thanks for the help so far, I'm getting somewhere at least.

    Hiya,

    I figured it was one of the two reasons why you weren't able to access that page, and happy that you're finally able to do so.

    If you were looking to promote your account from a child to an adult, this can only be done on the Xbox 360 console. You should be able to find instructions on how to do that by visiting this page
    here. You should know that the promote option will only come up if the age on the account is 18, it won't show up before that age.

    You may also want to login to the parental account currently under your account and make sure that they have everything squared away in their account as well (terms of use update, billing information, gamertag created, etc).
