Why is it when i am in a party it appears that i am in game chat and it wont switch back to...

On which platform did the problem occur?

This problem usually appears when your network can't connect well to Xbox Live.

Please check your current NAT type first. To do this(if you are using xbox console):

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
   
3. Under Current Network Status, the NAT Type field displays your current NAT type.
   

You need your NAT type to be Open to play online gaming normally. You also need to be sure there are no errors such as Double NAT detected or UPnP not successful displayed.

If you see errors after checking your NAT type, follow the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem:

And here are also some troubleshooting steps you can try if you are using PC:

• Change your DNS.
  

1. Open Control Panel: You can do this by searching for “Control Panel” in the Start menu.
   
2. Click on Network and Internet: This will open a new window with various internet settings.
   
3. Click on Network and Sharing Center: This will open a new window with your current network settings.
   
4. Click on Change adapter settings: This option is located on the left pane of the Network and Sharing Center window.
   
5. Right-click the network interface connected to the internet, and select Properties: This will open a new window with the properties of your network connection.
   
6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the list: This will highlight the option in the list.
   
7. Click on Properties: This will open a new window where you can change the DNS settings
   

1. Try different DNS (e.g. 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4,4.2.2.1,4.2.2.2)
   

• Enable TLS1.0-1.2
  

1. Open the Internet Properties window by pressing Windows + R and typing inetcpl.cpl.
   
2. Under the Advanced tab, scroll down to find Use TLS 1.0~Use TLS 1.2. If it is not selected, check the box and click on Apply.

If a game refuses to let me party chat, I wont play it. I wont be talking in the public chat regardless of if they force me to or not, and if I am being forced to exit party chat and stop talking to my friends, then I wont bother playing the game. *** whoever
decides to do this.

This is totally understandable. I do the same as well. If I'm playing a MP Game that my Friends aren't or I'm not in Party Chat I'll still use Game Chat now and then. As soon as the first signing rap star comes in, I'll go back
into a Party Chat with just me.

Getting back on topic, i'm on party chat with mates which is why you wont hear me in-game, just like Call Of.... oh no wait, there is no party chat in all those game modes......

Are you in a party chat? If so, in the Xbox party chat settings, there is a overlay toggle which can switch the overlay on or off.

Outside of party chat, I am not entirely sure how it works with MWII (I assume that's what you are playing).
