Why is it telling me to authenticate my microsoft account

Apparently, two step verification is very finicky. Here is what I mean. When I log into my Microsoft account on my desktop, where I enter my password there is also an option that says other ways to sign in. I click that and choose use authentication app. I then verify my sign in and now my Xbox will ask me to verify my sign in with the authentication app. However, when I sign in to my Microsoft account with my iPhone, where I enter my password, there is an option that says, use authentication app and not other ways to sign in. So I click on use authentication app, and verify my sign in. Using this method makes my sign in with my Xbox skip verification. Why is this? BTW, when I use my iPhone to sign into my Microsoft account, I am using Safari.

The only way I got it too stop it was turn on the authenticator setting on in microsoft account and download the authenticator app on my windows phone. It hasn't hassled me for months since.

Are there some errors it is showing?

Okay that specific advise didn't work but it got me in the right direction.

This is what fixed it. I went into my microsoft account at account.live.com/p and disabled the authentication app. cleared cache, reseat and restart. nothing. but then I looked at my account and raised my eyebrow hmmmmmm.

Went back to my microsoft account and completely disabled TWO STEP AUTHENTICATION.

I have seen so many people with this exact same issue and finding no solution, and it's no coincidence I think. The two step authentication just isn't fully ready for release imo.

So everyone who is having this specific issue, or 8015D002 in general. DISABLE TWO STEP AUTHENTICATION.

If I'm wrong tell me. Is this your issue?

You configured Microsoft authenticator in the past, but you reinstalled the app / you have a new phone / you factory reset the phone used for authenticator.

Now every time you want to sign in with your account the system ask you to touch XX number in your authenticator app, but you don't receive the notification and you're not able to sign in due to this.

If I'm right. Please share an screenshot of how your authenticator app looks (don't forget to hide any personal info)

Also, when you try to sign in with your account, are you not able to see something like "I can't use my authenticator app right now"?
