    Try this:

    Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

    The Xbox button on the front of the console is highlighted.

    Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

    If that doesn't work, I would suggest that you perform a factory reset.

    - Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    - Select System > Settings > System > Console info.

    - Select Reset console.

    - On the Reset your console screen: Select "Reset and keep my games & apps".

    You will have to sign in again.

    When this happens it has nothing to do with your Xbox. When your download speed isn't fast enough to keep up with your Xbox. Your console will tell you it too long to start. So your console is trying to process a specific amount of data at a time and if
    it cant keep up it will give you the error. Please try some of these troubleshooting steps to see if you can boost your routers performance.

    Fortnite saying took to long to start

    This happens with Fortnite on my sons console occasionally.

    We reset the console by holding the power button on the console for a full 10 seconds until it’s completely off. When we turn it back on and try again, it always fixes it.

    Take your console offline and see if you can run anything without it trying to talk to Xbox Live or perform any updates.

    Please turn off your console and unplug it for 30 seconds. If that does not fix it please see if you have a system update in Settings > System > Console Info > Updates

    If that doesn't work please redownload your profile on your console:
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/add-remove-account-xbox-one


    Finally, if those did not work please do a reformat of your console keeping games and apps like this:



    Settings > System > Console Info & Updates > Reset console > "keep games and apps". This will require you to redownload your account.

    The factory reset usually fixes this problem.
