Why is Cortana not able to select music from my collection when asked?

Why is Cortana not able to select music from my collection when asked. I have Xbox One that is up to date as of September '18. She keeps selecting videos on Bing and I don't have videos nor do I need Bing to process my collection. It is on OneDrive.
I am able to play these songs using the controller, but not Cortana.

I have done the 'troubleshoot' process for Connect and checked again for updates.

Downloaded music does not get added to cloud collection

Hi, I have two connected issues with xbox music. Resolution of the first will also remove the need for the second.

First: when I download music to my phone from the store using my xbox music pass, the music is NOT added to my cloud collection. This means that when I log into my PC and open the music app using the same xbox music pass, none of the music I downloaded is
in my collection. I would expect the songs to be added to my collection and ready to stream or download.

Since the songs were not added to my collection, I downloaded them manually to my PC from my phone using the Windows Phone app. I expected to be able to import them to my music collection in the music app manually. The music files are all in my music library,
but the music app is unable to open them and throws error 0xc1010091 when I try. I would expect the music to be auto-added to my collection since all of the files are in my music library and I am using the same xbox music pass on both devices.

Sorry you seem to be having issue with Cortana. Cortana is not set up to dive into apps and select something specific. You can view

all about Cortana and what she is able to do. Also how to bring up what you can say and ask.

The Cortana Voice assistant is pretty specific about the commands you give her.

First I would like to provide the different voice commands that you can give to Cortana:

You can also say "Hey Cortana, what can I say?"

It seems she is compatible with Spotify playlist but I can't find anything specific to having her play songs from your OneDrive.

For music downloaded from the Internet you need the Xbox Media Player App to play those files or the VLC app.

I can't find anything on our official website that states music on your OneDrive can be played as the Xbox doesn't have an integrated music player as it has partnered with Spotify.

It may be that Cortana is just not compatible for the OneDrive app.

If you'd like to try a
power cycle, it may help with the situation to fully reboot the Xbox.

A very good reason why Microsoft is failing in the tech wars. Alexa has everyone beat in the vocal assistant world. I should not have to purchase Spotify to access my music. Groove is a tragedy. Windows Media Player is absolutely the best media player
on Earth, but your company refuses to make it accessible past Windows PC. You lose me in this fight.

If I don't agree to having it collect my information then I shouldn't have to turn it on. If I don't agree then why am I being forced to agree? why even give me the option? that's what I'm asking and you still haven't answered me yet. I do NOT even have
a Kinect and never will. So why would I want Cortana collecting ANYTHING from me. how do you know if that's the only thing it's doing? are you the actual developer of the Cortana? If so then I'm truly sorry. But IF NOT, then you cannot truly say what it's
actually doing. I know what it's doing to Windows 10 users. Why would the Xbox the any different. anyways I'm going to live with a pop up cuz I do not want it collecting anything from me. This topic is closed!!

I had this issue and gave up completely in January. This past weekend, I decided I would tackle it again and I have found a solution (it does have it's draw backs for someone with an extensive music collection).

So for the work around...

Log into Smartglass on your Windows 8 PC. Once logged in proceed to launch the "Music App" (It's orange and has logo of headphones) from the windows 8 dash (metro).

Once loaded slide to the right and select "My Music".

Once My Music has loaded your library.

Select a song or album and "create a playlist".

Now go to your Xbox dashboard and locate and launch "Xbox Music".

Once launched, select "My Playlists"

At this point it will ask you if you want to purchase an Xbox Music pass. Select No.

.......and to your pleasant surprise it will begin streaming music from your PC.

Now that I have rectified this issue, I am hoping Microsoft can allow me access to my whole music library without having to convert it into a playlist??

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
