Why is a credit card needed to download a FREE games with gold Xbox 360 Game?

Why is a credit card needed to download a FREE games with gold Xbox 360 Game? This is the most dumb and frustrating issue for games with gold. If on a Xbox 360 you don't need a credit card so why need it on the Xbox One. Some people do not want there credit
card on their account for one reason or another so why alienate an entire group of users? If it is free then make it free. I also tried on Xbox.com but the same result...must put in a CC on the account. Microsoft, get it together.

Is there ANY way to get FREE games without having to enter a CC?

Why can't you buy backwards compatible games with credits/money on your Microsoft account

Why is it that if you want to buy a 360 or OG Xbox game on Xbox One you have to provide your credit card info? why can't you purchase these games with the credit/money on your Microsoft account? and further more why is that if you want to download the 360
games that are free that month in Games with Gold, you have to provide credit card info? That game is free during it time in Games with Gold, so there is no reason to provide any credit card info. It's free. I only ask these questions because not everyone
is able/willing to provide their credit card info.

Just to clarify... I have an Xbox One. I want to download a FREE games with gold Xbox 360 game, this requires me to have a credit Card on file why? Especially if I dont need one to download Xbox One games on the Xbox One but for 360 games on the One I need
a CC yet if on the 360 I dont need a CC!!!! SO STUPID!

 

Hi, it's a quirk with the Xbox One, a workaround is to start the download on an Xbox 360 and then cancel the download, if you then look in the ready to install section on the Xbox One the game will be sitting there waiting to be installed.

It does seem crazy but for whatever reason Microsoft need to charge nothing to a credit/debit card for a free download.

 

Except the games aren't free and never have been, it is being sold for the price of $0.00. So you need a form of payment to complete the transaction. There are a ton of posts here about the same issue if you search a little.

The reason is because the 360 store and the Xbox One store are 2 different storefronts still. The 360 store requires a form of payment regardless of how or from where you purchase.

If you don't want to use a credit card you can buy tokens from the Microsoft Store for the 360, but you can't use those to renew or extend Live Gold or you can register a PayPal account. That's it

 

The reason why this doesn't work is because you need to have a Billing account created on your Microsoft Account in order to attach purchases to a billing address. What you can do is add a credit card and create a billing account in the process and then
just remove the credit card again. The billing account will remain created and all further purchases will be attached to that so you will be able to download the free games and use prepaid cards to buy all other games.

 

360 Games for gold free to download when your forced to hand over credit card details. We have buy a xbox 360 just to download free games nd what happens when they close down xbox 360 servers it will happen, then what MS goes on and lie saying 4 free games
a month when you can only get 2.

MS need to get there head from up there **** and fix it
