Why I have to pay to change my gamertags?

If you’re being asked to pay for a regular price it means that the system detects that you have already used your free Gamertag change.

The free change is only given if you were given a randomly generated tag when you created your account and are changing it for the first time. So if you chose a gamertag when you first created your account, that counted as your free change. I hope this helps!

yeah but I want my gamertag changed and I still have 2 pay after they removed my gamertag as far as I'm concerned i shouldnt have 2 pay if they want my gamertag changed to something more appropriate then Microsoft should pay for
the name change

But then i lose my free gamertag change. And have to pay 10€ for only one required change.

Why cant just an employee resets my gamertag to something random like the frist time you register.

Then i just change my name to "Contexys"

yes if you have used the free gamertag change it costs 10$/€.

If you're short on money let me recommend you the MS Rewards program. If you frequently collect points you soon have enough to pay the fee for a gamertag change.

Afterwards you can buy games or add-ons with those points or redeem them for a game pass sub etc.
