Why hasn't a game from my old console transferred to my new one?

I bought Cyberpunk 2077 on my old Xbox One S a few years back when the game first came out. I bought it via a code that someone bought for me as a Christmas gift. I'm not sure if it was a physical code or a digital one as the person who bought is for me wrote the code down on paper.

I got a new Xbox Series X a few months ago and have only now realized that I want to play Cyberpunk again. I went on my owned games to go and download it again, and it wasnt there. I checked the microsoft store and it only gave me the option to buy it again.

I set up my old Xbox One S and the game was there as normal. I could download it and play it. Since it was on my old Xbox, I figured I could try and network transfer it but it didn't even let me do that. This seems to be the only game this has happened to.

The reason I was talking about the code is because maybe this has something to do with it?

I haven't seen this happen before and I have ran out of ideas on how to resolve this.

Yeah someone else was saying this to me. I have only one other account that I used on my old Xbox but I'm pretty certain I didnt redeem the code on that account. I did try adding that other account to my current Xbox but nothing happened.

At the moment the only thing I can think of is that you redeemed the code on a different account to the one you're using now. Does your old console have more than one account on it? Once a code is redeemed it is associated with the account it was redeemed to. A console can share games between accounts.

Is this transfer cable different from the one i used to transfer my files from the old console to the new one?

well its on a new console that i acquired after sending my old one in for repair. the old one was the original recipient of the DLC. but ive been informed that microsoft transfers the licenses from the old console onto the new one when they replace an old
console with a new one. and just to be sure i transferred the licenses using the license transfer tool.

On my new xbox I've redeemed my old account but I've changed the gamertag, I'm wanting to transfer games ext from my old xbox to the new one but the data is owned by my old gamertag can I still transfer from the old name to my new one ????
