Why has my Xbox Series S suddenly started lagging?

I had an Xbox One S from 2017-October 2022. Around the start of 2022 it had started lagging constantly to the point of games being unplayable. I got my new Series S in October and I had pretty much zero lag up until the end of December, when it suddenly started. I mainly play Star Wars Battlefront II and I keep having lag spikes every couple of minutes. What is the cause and how can I fix it? I used a wireless connection which was fine until recently. I've tried moving it closer to my router and using an ethernet cable and that worked. But if that was the problem then why was it perfectly fine when I first got it?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

We may just need to refresh the connection. I have here steps that we can try, please perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Funny how I haven't had this issue on my xbox one x ever but when I go on my xbox series S then it just starts having the lag spike issues with my captures.

The recent activity section of the player profile doesn't show recently unlocked achievements, not since the new year. Is this happening to everyone?

Same problem here. My shared snaphots are also all missing since the problem. Resetting the console, restarting and clicking update button doesn't help. Problem started suddenly few days ago. Very annoying. I have Xbox Series X. My friend's Xbox Series S has no problem.
