why has my minecraft world suddenly been deleted?

Can you specify which console it is? Series X|S, ONE, other.

Were you playing online with your Xbox account logged in?

If so, the world may have been saved to the cloud and can be restored automatically.

I recommend:

1. Completely restart your console (hold down the power button for 10 seconds).

2. Log back in and open Minecraft.

3. See if the world appears in the list. It sometimes takes a few minutes to sync from the cloud.

The update for the Windows version of Minecraft bedrock edition has been blocked until further notice due to a bug that was deleting some users worlds. There is nothing you can do to update it until the issue that Minecraft has is fixed.
