Why doesn’t my Xbox Series S automatically update games?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues updating your games automatically, specially when you're away. I understand that the "Keep my games up to date" is already enabled.

One important factor is to enable the sleep option of your console. When your console is set to sleep, your console:

Sleeps instead of turns off

Uses more power

Supports automatic updates of console, games, and apps

Needed for remote wake and fast boot

Starts up faster

Wakes your console with your voice (where available)

To change this setting:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options.

Select the Sleep option.

My fiancé plays them perfectly fine on his Xbox one s. He doesn’t have a series s yet.

Note* I am currently playing on a Xbox One S and I am switching to my Series S in a few weeks. Will I be able to download the game automatically onto my Series S or will I have to pay for the game again ?

Usually when you move your games from Xbox Series S to Series X, the first time you play a game it will ask for a update or patch. So the game will update itself to the Series X version automatically.

Hi it's a Xbox series s, any other information do you need? The problem is other uses like Playstation have a 36g update and pc but me as a Xbox series s user have a 144gb which is the full game to be update why it was just suppose to be a 36g update.
