why doesnt my gift card i bought at walmart work

First of all, you need to make sure you are trying to redeem it correctly. You can check this by following this link to the Minecraft website that explains how and where you can redeem the codes:

Now, if you made sure you making everything correctly, you need to go back to Walmart or contact them on their website ( depending on how you bought ) and tell them that the code is not working. If any error appears, I suggest taking a photo/print of it to prove it and of course, have the receipt in your hands.

Can you explain retailer? Sorry im still somewgat new to this since i dont get gift cards often, i bought it from walmart

If the redeem code gives an error of not activated return to merchant, then its target you have to deal with not xbox. I had this same problem with walmart. The barcode on the back has to be scanned by the cashier or it can't be used. So there was a
problem with scanning the gift card. Every card has its own code. I bought two cards, one scanned but the other wouldn't scan so they re scanned the first gift card. It showed on the receipt that I bought two gift cards but one was scanned twice so the
other one was useless. Walmart gave me my money back because they couldn't take gift cards back as a return. Make sure you still have your receipt and you get to deal with someone nice at target. Maybe take a screenshot of the error message to show target
as well.

i dont live in america and i bought a 25 dollar gift card and now im home and it doesnt work is there another way of complaining other than going back to the store ?
