At the cost of controllers nowadays you could buy one new unless you are talking about elites

And controller warranty is 1 year from the date of purchase

And this is why you buy extended warranty

There is no 3 years on controllers

Elites have 2 year warranties fyi

I think that is how works, because when I bought mine (Im from Europe), the warranty of Microsoft was only 1 year too, but the retailer shop where I bought was 2 years of warranty. For what I understand for this, is always 1 year of Microsoft's warranty,
you can have more, if you bought in a retailer shop and if in your country the retailers actually do more than 1 year.

Besides the console having 2 years of warranty in Europe you are right, but the controller doesnt use that amount of warranty. For what I could find, controllers in Europe have a 1 year warranty.

If you bought the console in a retailer or a non-microsoft store you need to check with them. If you bought directly through Microsoft Store you can reach the support like was said by our fellow ambassador NaZoooom but I think the support will say that the
controller warranty is alredy over.

From what I've seen, the US warranty is 90 days.

The EU and UK warranty is 2 years I believe, and Australia is 1 year.

However, I've heard that some people have gotten 1 year warranties in the US.

Also, I am wondering where you heard of a 3 year warranty, possibly an extra protection plan.

I am unsure of the Canadian warranty but I saw a post that stated it was 1 year, which is why I need to know did you immediately register your warranty? This seems to be a problem with a lot of purchases.

Also, buying an extra warranty may be the confusion between the people who didn't add any extras, and the people who did.

The actual warranty length should be 1 year, however Microsoft makes you purchase extra time.

At this point, there is no cheap replacement option, so my advice would be: buy the cheapest extra warranty on something expensive you don't want to risk replacing for more money.
