    Why does Xbox one version of GTA online work on series x but not the series x version


    I recently got a series x and I can Xbox one version just fine on the console but I keep getting the error message files needed to play GTA online could not be downloaded.ive spoke to rockstar and xbox tried every trouble shooting solution the offered still can't play it goes as far as loading the session the the error comes up any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

    Ok I have both versions of GTA downloaded on my series x the Xbox one version works fine on the series x I then downloaded the series s/x version on the series x I then launched the game and it gives the error message

    GTA + doesn't work

    GTA+ is only available for the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. If you are using the Xbox One version, then GTA+ will not work. Make sure you are using the Xbox Series X|S version of the game.

    Are you playing the Xbox One version or the Series X/S version of GTA Online?

    Please make sure your version matches the shark card you purchased. Shark Cards for the Series X/S version will show "(Xbox Series X|S)" in the name in the order history.

    Why can't I play gta online with gta5 game disc?

    gta online for series x is different to the gta 5 online for xbox one that it originally came out on. there is an updated version on series console for online only, not sure if you need to purchase this version.

    Hi,

    The 360 version of GTA V is not backwards compatible with Xbox One or Series X/S. This is why it does not appear on your download list on the new console. You need the Xbox One version.
