Why does Xbox no longer keep Games up to date via auto update that havent been played recently?

Xbox used to keep all of my games updated, so anytime i turned it on, i could play any of my games, Now if i turn it on, every time i have like 40 updates even though its left in instant-on and has settings in place for auto update. As I was looking it says something about only keeping games played in the last 28 days updated. How is his helpful in keeping my xbox up to date? I want to be able to turn it on once every 6 months and have EVERYTHING be up to date with zero effort. Why do you expect people will only play one or two games? and daily??? Whats the point in having large libraries if you are going to have to wait a day to play anything when you want to play??? I havent been able to ACTUALLY play my xbox in months due to this "feature"

It would be great if "keep my xbox up to date" actually MEANT keep my xbox up to date.

In a world with so many options to game. Why would i choose to game on a console that requires constant effort when my PC requires half the effort and I can actually PLAY games even if they haven't been updated yet

Considering the only useful function of the Xbox is to game, I would think you would want nothing slowing people down from doing the planned action on the device.

Keeping games up-to-date is very hit and miss in my experience...sometimes it keeps everything updated, sometimes it updates nothing and I have to manually check for updates. And I play all my games at least monthly (the benefit of only having a small number of games!)

I have enabled “Keep games and apps up to date” enabled, but every time a game gets an update I have to manually start the game for it to update. How can I make it so the games auto update?

I have:

- Instant On

- Keep games and apps up to date enabled

- Keep console up to date enabled

- Keep hard drive on

This may be an issue with one of the recent updates. I am experiencing the same issue and there does not currently seem to be a fix for it. I would recommend holding the Guide button on the controller until you see the option to report a problem to report
it.

You can enable auto,stic updates to keep your games up to date. This will not prevent updates, but greatly reduce this issue

If major changes have been. made, it often requires a full re-download.

I can suggest you play via the cloud which would allow nearly instant access, and then let it download overnight.

Try turning on auto updates in play store to keep app up to date.

You could try to delete and re install the app, it will get the latest software on update.

Things you can consider trying:

-Turn off the auto power-off (Settings -> Power & Start-up)

-Set console to instant-on (also in Settings -> Power & Start-up), then setting it to keep games up to date (Settings -> System -> Updates)

This should keep it up and running longer, and/or installing while you're not using or monitoring the console.
